Circular Economy

Supporting global organisations and the circular economy

Port of Sunderland is rapidly becoming a hub for the circular economy, working closely with tenants to facilitate growth potential as well as deliver on the UK’s commitment to net zero and the green agenda.

With fit-for-purpose infrastructure and a strong commitment to sustainability and the green agenda, Port of Sunderland is playing an important role in the growth of the circular economy here in the UK.

There has been significant investment at the port recently by Norweigan-based, Wastefront, a global organisation that is now delivering its ambitious and game-changing vision here in the UK. The company has started construction at the port on a new multi-million pound waste-to-fuel facility that will convert second-hand tyres into sustainable aviation fuel.

By engaging and working closely with such companies (and facilitating their vision), we are carving a niche as the partner of choice for the circular economy, connecting companies, cargoes and waste to facilitate valuable supply chains and new opportunities for the port, the city and the UK.
