Port of Sunderland Byelaws consultation

20/12/2025

Sunderland City Council, as the harbour authority for Port of Sunderland, has been undertaking a comprehensive review of the Port of Sunderland Byelaws 1972. Previous consultations on proposed new byelaws were carried out in 2013 and 2017, and we are grateful for the feedback received during those stages. All comments were carefully considered and, where appropriate, incorporated into the draft byelaws.

We now intend to proceed with a formal consultation on the latest draft of the proposed byelaws. This consultation provides an opportunity for stakeholders, port users, and other interested parties to review the current proposals and submit any new comments before the byelaws are finalised.

Kindly note that all comments received during the last two rounds of informal consultation were carefully considered and therefore it is only new comments/ suggestions that we are interested in receiving.
