port of sunderland

The first port of call

As the UK’s second largest municipally owned port, the Port of Sunderland has a deserved reputation for delivering high quality service and achieving rapid turnaround times in cargo handling.

Centrally located in relation to Scandinavian and Continental sea routes, our position on England’s North East Coast affords excellent road / rail links to national and regional networks, with both Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley International Airports being within easy reach. With a progressive management team and fully flexible, well-trained and highly qualified workforce, we are totally committed to working in partnership with established and potential customers.

We offer comprehensive cargo handling, warehousing and distribution services at highly competitive rates.

Our growing trade portfolio includes imports of forest products, non-ferrous metals, steel, aggregates and refined oil products, together with exports of agricultural limestone, chemicals and maritime cranes.

In addition, our position and facilities are ideally suited for supporting North Sea oil and gas development, with Sunderland now being established as port of choice for a world-leading subsea engineering and construction company.

First-class ship repair, marine engineering and dry-docking facilities also exist within the South Docks complex and upriver at Pallion.

Besides an extensive impounded dock system, the port boasts 24/7 access to deepwater river berths close to the open sea.

If you see Sunderland as being your first port of call, contact us via telephone or the email page on this website and we will ensure your enquiry receives our immediate attention.
